Gary Zhong wins end of season championships
August 30th, 2010AL Team’s number one seed Gary Zhong comfortably took the end of season final tournament singles title and $125 cheque beating the number two seed Peter Yau from Vancouver Avengers. Avengers captain Dave Gatiss and number 3 seed lost a group match against league MVP Karim Manaaki but fought through a leg injury to get to the semi-final but was easily beaten by Zhong. TT Japans top player and 10th seed Michiya Suzuki was the other semi finalist.

The Doubles title also went to Gary Zhong and partner (and Team Captain) Andy Lui taking the winners cheque. The close fought final was against VTTC 2″s Karim Manaaki and Iwen Lo.

Andu Lui ,after taking a surptirsing early exit in the main singles, went on to ultimately win the consolation singles event beating tt japans captain Hideo Tabata in the final

AL Team yet again prove they are the team to beat as they take Summer League title

AL Team took the Winners prize money on Friday night having all ready wrapped up the title the previous week. A 7:2 victory was easily enough against TT Japan although captain Andy Lui had a erratic night beating TT Japan’s Number 1 Michiya Suzuki but losing surprisingly to the Number 2 & 3 Hideo Tabata and Yuki Harada.

The MVP cheque was decided late on in the evening in exciting fashion as VTTC 2’s Karim Manaaki took a close 5th set victory against Josh Zhang (CITTI) to secure the $100 MVP cheque and VTTC 2 also took the MRT (Most Reliable Team) cheque of $50 making this by far there most successfull summer season.
